Tab Overview

Depending on what is selected on the Admin Console tree view, different tabs display which you can use to define or configure your folders, printer objects, etc. Here is a brief overview of what you can expect to see.
Folder Tabs
When a folder is selected the following tabs display:
- General: Shows options for the general folder configuration.
- Folder Name: Enter the name of the folder.
- Hide from Portal: Select the check box to hide the folder in the Self-service Portal Web page end users can use to self install printers..
- Security: Shows two menu options. For full details see Portal Security and Administrative Security.
- Portal Security: Defines who can see folders and printer objects in the Self-service Portal.
- Administrative Security: Defines who can see folders and printer objects in the Admin Console.
- Alerts: Define and manage SNMP A Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) collects and organizes information about managed devices on IP networks and modifys that information to change device behavior. Devices that typically support SNMP include cable modems, routers, switches, servers, computers, printers, and more. email alerts for all of the devices included in the selected folder. - Map: Where you upload floorplan images and add printer icons for a physical reference that displays on the Self-service Portal for end-users. For more details refer to Add Maps.
- Services: Used to add and manage internal and external routing services for Off-Network Print Provides a way to keep your printers on secure networks while still allowing all workers to print regardless of which network they use. It gives printer access to remote employees and contractors without the need for VPNs or web portals.. For more details refer to Off-Network Printing.
Printer Tabs
When a printer object is selected the following tabs display:
- General: Shows options where you define various details about the selected printer including the printer name and ID, location and comment fields, color / duplex support, access direct install and printer interface links, assign Print Job Costs, set Hide from Portal, QR code download, and any custom fields.
- Port: Where you display and manage the port, protocol, OM Plus Printing, and SNMP Status settings.
- Drivers / Profiles: Upload drivers and create profiles for the selected printer. For more details refer to Driver Management.
- Deploy: Used to automatically install printers and drivers on workstations. For more details refer to Printer Deployment.
- Security: Shows two menu options. For full details see Portal Security and Administrative Security.
- Portal Security: Defines who can see the selected printer in the Self-service Portal.
- Administrative Security: Defines who can see the selected printer in the Admin Console.
- Alerts: Define and manage SNMP email alerts the selected printer. The alerts set up here override any alerts set up at the folder level. For more details refer to Alerts.
- Printing: Define support for the following features:
- Pull Printing: Jobs submitted to a virtual queue until you choose to release it to a printer. For more details refer to Secure Release Print
- Pull Printing: Simple Badge Release Device: Define which print jobs are released when a badge is swiped. For more details refer to Simple Badge Release.
- Email Pull Printing: Define how the printer handles email print jobs. For more details refer to Email Printing.
- Direct Email Printing: Define the Direct Email address and how the printer handles Direct Email print jobs. For more details refer to Direct Email Printing.
- Status: Displays information about the printer gathered through SNMP, when enabled. For more details refer to SNMP Status Monitoring.
- Printer Info: Displays more in-depth information gathered about the printer through SNMP Status Monitoring.
- Queue: View and manage any printer queue problems, like corrupt or stuck jobs without needing to remote into an end user workstation.
- Release: Shows all held jobs sent to that printer using Secure Print Secure print is a printing method where documents are held until the authorized user physically goes to the printer and authenticates their identity to release the print job. This ensures that sensitive documents aren't left unattended in printer trays where they could be accessed by unauthorized people., displaying pull print, mobile print, and email pull printing print jobs, waiting to be released by the end user.
- Apps: Where you can install the Control Panel Application (CPA) A Control Panel Application (CPA) is an app that is installed on a compatible multifunction printer (MFP) and aids in the release of held print jobs, authentication for secure printing, and simple scanning functions. on individual printers. This tab differs from the Printer Apps tab on the Service Client Any Vasion Print Client-enabled workstation that has been promoted to provide one or more additional services that add specific functionality to the Vasion Print environment (i.e., SNMP, iOS Printing, Email Printing, Printer Apps, etc.), where the CPA installation can target multiple printers. - Off Network: Used to enable and define Off-Network Print settings. For more details refer to Off-Network Printing.
IP Address Range Tabs
The following tabs display on IP Address Range An IP address range is an object that you create in the Vasion Print tree structure that contains a range of IP addresses that you use for printer deployment. objects.
- General: Shows options for the general configuration. See IP Address Range Objects.
- IP Address Range Name: The name of the IP Address Range.
- IP Address Range: The IP address start and end range.
- Cache: Select the computer at the remote location where cached drivers, profiles, and other objects are stored. For more details refer to Cache Manager.
- Preferred Service Client: Used in Offline Secure Release Print, this field assigns a Service Client to a specific IP Address Range. For more details refer to Offline Secure Release Print (OSRP).
- Deploy: Used to automatically install printers and drivers on workstations. For more details refer to Printer Deployment.
- Administrative Security: Defines who can see the selected IP Address Range in the Admin Console. For more details refer to Administrative Security.
Service Client Tabs
The following tabs display on Service Client objects. Tabs shown may differ depending on the licensing.
- General: Shows options for the general configuration. See Service Client Setup.
- Name: The name of the Service Client.
- IP Address or Hostname: The IP address or host URL.
- Reauthorize button: Select to connect to the IP address or host and confirm connection. For more details refer to Reauthorization Steps
- Enable Automatic Updates: Select to automatically deploy Service Client software updates. You can uncheck this option if you want to push the software updates manually.
- Email Printing: Where you configure the settings for Email Printing, Direct Email Printing and Direct Email Guest Printing. For more details refer to Email Printing.
- Printer Apps: Where the CPA bulk installs on printers using the CPA Manager. For more details refer to CPA Manager.
- SNMP: Where you enable and start the SNMP service. For more details refer to SNMP Status Monitoring.
- Offline Printing: Used with the Offline Secure Release Print feature. For more details refer to Offline Secure Release Print (OSRP).
- Simple Badge Release: Where you add and manage badges. The tab displays a current list of configured devices and the printers they are associated with. For more details refer to Simple Badge Release.
- Identity Sync: Provides an alternative solution for Identity Provider authentication that works with an LDAP Domain or the Google Identity Sync service. The identity queries are contained behind your firewall and submitted to your Vasion Print instance via HTTPS.
- External Gateway: Used with the Off-Network Print feature. For more details refer to Off-Network Printing.
- Internal Routing: Used with the Off-Network Print feature. For more details refer to Off-Network Printing.
- Vasion Output: Used when Vasion Output is licensed and enabled. For more details refer to Vasion Output.
