Third-Party PSA Support

Last Updated: August 07, 2026

A Print Support App (PSA) is manufacturer software that exposes device-specific print features, such as finishing options, secure release codes, and tray control, on the driverless print path. Third-Party PSA Support allows PrinterLogic to run alongside common original equipment manufacturer (OEM) PSAs, so you keep these device-specific features when you move to Windows Protected Print (WPP), adopt Windows on ARM devices, or use Internet Printing Protocol (IPP) driverless printing.

Key Points

Review the following key points:

  • Applies to driverless print environments, including Windows Protected Print (WPP), Windows on ARM, and IPP printing.
  • Preserves OEM device-specific features, such as finishing options, secure release codes, and tray control.
  • Windows-specific. Non-Windows PSA equivalents are out of scope.
  • Works with IPP profile enforcement where applicable.
  • The OEM builds and maintains its PSA. PrinterLogic validates compatibility but does not provide OEM PSAs.

How It Works

Windows, not PrinterLogic, natively associates manufacturer PSAs with a printer. You choose whether to associate a printer with a manufacturer PSA. When an end user prints to a printer with an associated PSA, they can open it to select the Advanced Printing options before PrinterLogic routes the print job to the printer over IPP. This lets you keep full access to your printer manufacturer's advanced features while also gaining PrinterLogic's IPP-based management and delivery.

Requirements

  • Your environment must use a driverless print path, such as IPP printing. For more details refer to IPP Printing.
  • A supported OEM PSA must be available for the printer model.
  • Printers must have IPP enabled.
  • Windows OS / Windows Agent v25.1.0.1605 or later.
