Print Job Release Order
Last Updated: June 30, 2026
When you release multiple held print jobs at the same time, PrinterLogic outputs them in the order they were originally submitted. First in, first out (FIFO). This ensures that the sequence of documents at the printer matches the sequence in which you queued them.
By default, releasing a batch of held jobs could result in an unpredictable output order, requiring you to manually sort documents after picking them up. With FIFO ordering enabled, you can release a batch with confidence that your output arrives in the correct sequence without manual sorting.
This behavior is supported across all secure release methods, including Direct Secure Release, Delegated Release, and Offline Secure Release Print.
Key Points
- This feature is only available upon request. Please reach out to your Vasion representative for more details.
- FIFO ordering is controlled by a feature flag and does not require any customer configuration.
- When enabled, the Release Portal view reflects the order jobs print.
How It Works
When you hold multiple print jobs and release them simultaneously, PrinterLogic uses the original submission timestamp to determine the output order. The job you submitted first prints first, and each subsequent job prints in sequence. The Control Panel Application (CPA) also reflects this order. When the feature flag is enabled, the CPA job list displays jobs in FIFO sequence rather than by job ID, so the order you see in the portal matches the order your jobs print.
