Print to Sign
Last Updated: July 21, 2026
Print to Sign lets end users send documents for electronic signature directly from the print dialog (Ctrl+P or File > Print). Instead of selecting a printer, users choose Send to Vasion Sign and the document is captured, converted to a PDF, and immediately routed into Sign for signature collection.
Key Points
The following are important things to know about Print to Sign:
- Documents submitted through Print to Sign are not physically printed. The document is routed to Sign instead.
- Print to Sign uses the Send to Vasion Sign object in the tree structure.
- No workflow selection dialog appears when a user selects Send to Vasion Sign. The document is routed to Sign automatically.
- Admins must deploy the Send to Vasion Sign object to users before it appears in the print dialog. For more details refer to Printer Deployment.
- There are two file size limitations to be aware of:
- 2 GB upload limit.
- 50 MB post-conversion limit.
- Failures are silent on the user side. The Agent log shows a 413 error, but there is not a user notification that printing to the object failed.
How Print to Sign Works
When a user selects Send to Vasion Sign from the print dialog, the Vasion Agent captures the document and converts it to a PDF. The document is then submitted directly to the user's Sign tab.
After the document is in Sign, apply the field options, add signers, and send the document out for signature collection.
Requirements
In addition to the general Requirements, this feature also requires:
- Access to the Vasion Automate console, with licensing for Print and Sign.
- The Send to Vasion Sign object is present in the tree structure.
- Create the storage provider integration if you are using the Send & Store option with a third-party storage provider. For more details refer to Integrations.
- End-users need the Creator role to access the Sign tab.
