Equitrac & HPAC Printers

This section is for environments where users print to Equitrac / HPAC shared printers. Once you've completed the steps below, deploy the printer(s) using Printer Deployment. If you replace the Equitrac / HPAC print server with a differently named server, update the printer's port information to route to the new server.

Requirements

  • Set up and share the Equitrac / HPAC printers on the print server.
  • Install the Vasion Print Client on the print server.
  • Create a matching TCP / IP printer object in the Admin Console and configure the Port Protocol LPR information on the printer object's Port tab.

Add LPD Service

Add the LPD role service to the print server.

  1. In Server Manager, select the Roles section.
  2. Under the Print and Document Services role, select Add Role Services.
  3. Select the LPD Service box, then select Next.
  4. Select Install.
  5. Create and share the Equitrac / HPAC printer(s) on the print server.

Create Printer Object(s)

  1. Log in to the Admin Console.
  2. In the tree structure, right-click the folder that will house the new printer.
  3. Select New then TCP / IP Printer.
    1. Name the printer.
    2. Enter in the IP Address or hostname of the print server.
    3. Upload a new driver or assign an existing driver to the printer object.
  4. Select the printer object's Port tab.
  5. In the Protocol section, select LPR.

  6. Enter the appropriate queue name for the printer as specified in the LPD on the print server.

    Make sure that LPR Byte Counting is enabled and SNMP Status is disabled.

  7. Select Save
