Signature Approval Step
Last Updated: October 25, 2026
A Signature Approval step requires an assigned user to sign a signature field on a form with multiple signers. The form is completed earlier in the workflow, either by the trigger or by a Form step.
Key Points
Review the following key points:
- Each Signature Approval step corresponds to one signature field on the form.
- Each Signature Approval step has its own assignee.
How the Signature Approval Step Works
When the workflow reaches a Signature Approval step, the assignee receives a task to review the form and sign their signature field. The workflow does not advance until the assignee signs.
Multiple Signers
When a form has two or more signature fields, the form creator can turn on the Multiple Signers option in the form builder and give each signature field a unique Assignee Label. Each label maps to a Signature Approval step in the workflow. The workflow routes the form to each signer according to how you connect the steps.
For example, an employee signs an HR document, and then a manager adds a countersignature in a second Signature Approval step.
Signature Approval Compared to Approval
An Approval step asks the assignee to approve or reject a submission. A Signature Approval step asks the assignee to sign a field on the form.

Review these Requirements before you start.
