Third-Party Integration Steps

Last Updated: October 27, 2026

Third-party Integration steps are workflow step cards that let a Business Process workflow exchange data with an external application, such as SAP or Slack. The cards are available in the Workflow Designer after an administrator configures the integration.

Key Points

Review the following key points:

  • Use Integration steps to look up data in, or send information to, a connected application without leaving the workflow.
  • Step cards for an application appear only after the integration is configured.
  • Each step runs with the permissions of the user account that is connected to the application.
  • Data that a step returns is available as variables to later steps.

How Third-Party Integration Steps Work

An administrator configures the integration in the Admin application. Each user who builds or runs workflows with the integration then connects their own account to the external application in their account Integrations.

After you configure your account integration, you can access and add its step cards to the workflow canvas and connect them with arrows like any other step. When the workflow reaches the step, it runs the action in the external application and continues to the next step.

The following integrations provide workflow step cards:

  • SAP: Looks up purchase orders, goods receipts, suppliers, and invoices in SAP, and creates and posts supplier invoices. The 10 SAP step cards are divided into read actions, which return data without changing anything, and write actions, which create or update records in SAP.
  • Send Slack Message: Sends a message to a Slack user or channel, as an alternative to email notifications. [

Requirements

Review the following requirements:

  • A Vasion administrator configured the integration. Refer to the configuration topic for each integration.
  • Creator role assigned to a user to build workflows with integration steps.
  • An account in the external application for each user who connects to it.

Other Relevant Details

  • AI Agents can call the same actions as tools when a workflow includes an Agent step.
  • Steps for each integration might have additional requirements, such as application-specific roles or permissions.
