Control Panel Agent

Last Updated: October 27, 2026

The Control Panel Agent is Vasion's control panel app for supported multifunction printers (MFPs). Unlike the existing Control Panel Application (CPA), the Control Panel Agent does not require a Service Agent. You install it directly onto each device from the Admin Console, and communication routes straight to the cloud.

Key Points

Review the following key points:

  • The Control Panel Agent does not require a Service Agent for installation, authentication, or scanning.
  • HP is the first supported manufacturer.
  • Users sign in at the printer with a username, PIN, badge, or Web Print code.
  • Users can release secure and pull print jobs, scan to email, storage, or workflow, make copies, and display a QR code.
  • Copy supports number of copies, color, duplex, orientation, and paper size. Finishing options, such as staple, hole punch, and sort, are not supported in this release.
  • You set up one printer at a time. Bulk setup is not available in this release.
  • The Control Panel Agent does not support the following in this release:
    • Delegated Release.
    • Scan to Home.
    • S/MIME.
    • Quota Management.
    • Off-Network Cloud Print (ONCP).

How the Control Panel Agent Works

Your HP reseller installs the PrinterLogic app on the printer through HP Command Center. You then add the printer in the Admin Console, choose its settings, and provision it at the control panel with a one-time code. After provisioning, users sign in at the control panel, and the printer communicates directly with the cloud over HTTPS instead of through a Service Agent. This direct connection removes the need for new inbound firewall rules.

When you change a printer’s settings in the Admin Console, the printer applies the change the next time the app opens on the control panel.

Requirements

Review the following requirements:

  • Outbound HTTPS access (port 443) from the printer to your instance URL, the cpa-api URL for your region, and any certificate revocation list (CRL) URLs.
    • cpp-ui.app.printercloudnow.com and cpa-api.app.printercloudnow.com, over TCP 443.
  • If you use your own Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) server, network access from the printer to your mail server.
  • If you scan to a network folder, access from the printer to your file server over Server Message Block (SMB) on port 445.

HP Requirements

Review the following requirements:

  • This feature is available upon request. Contact your Vasion representative for more information.
  • An HP FutureSmart 4 or 5 printer that meets the HP Workpath requirements, with HP Workpath turned on.
  • An HP reseller to install the app through HP Command Center. The HP Workpath license is applied as part of the installation.
  • If the printer has the existing CPA installed in Single Sign-On (SSO) Provider mode, uninstall it before you install the new Control Panel Agent. In any other mode, the installation detects the existing CPA and removes it.
